Clean Up Your Life For Spring

Clean Up Your Life For Spring

With warmer weather right around the corner, it’s time for everyone to start their annual spring-cleaning! Cleaning out the kid’s room, washing down the walls, shaking out the curtains, and actually moving the couch to vacuum. Garage sales at every corner, daylight lasting a little longer, lining up those summer plans, and swimsuit season!

Wait, did I just say SWIMSUIT season?!? I’m sure at this point most people are wondering if this can be true. Yes, the hard truth is it’s already a couple of months into the New Year. The other hard truth is you may not even be close to those New Year’s resolutions you made, now months ago.

So let’s look back at this whole spring-cleaning concept. Why do we only apply cleaning to our home life when our lifestyle could also use some spring-cleaning?

Spring is a perfect time of the year to really implement significant cleaning. Winter is when everything slows down, plants die back, and the days are short and cold. Springtime offers a new beginning. Animals are having their babies. New life comes to the land; plants, trees, and flowers, and the days become warmer and longer.

What better time of the year to start a new beginning! Here are some very simple and quick changes to help clean up your life and, better yet, your health:

·      Clean out your pantry – get rid of all that boxed, fake food.
·      Clean out your fridge – let’s stick with food that needs to be eaten in less than a week – hint: that means it’s real food.
·      Walk or jog outside at least three days a week.
·      Plan two-to-three outdoor adventures for the weekends – there are some amazing state parks within hours of your home! Take the kids and go on a short weekend journey.
·      Drink more water and less caffeine or soda.
·      Take five minutes for yourself every day – soak up some sun and relax.
·      Buy a new pair of workout shoes.
·      Join the gym – better yet, use your gym membership.
·      Try three new vegetables.
·      Take a cooking class.

Most importantly, learn how to create a healthy relationship between work and play. My Dad always told me, “The happiest people I know are those who work hard and play hard.” Playing is what keeps us young, healthy, and happy. But we have to work hard to stay healthy and make the right decisions when it comes to our nutrition and determination to push yourself in fitness.

Spring clean your life. Swimsuit season won’t be so scary if you’ve been taking care of yourself!

Remember, springtime is a chance for new beginnings. What are you doing to spring-clean your life?
